Why do people fear what they don’t know?
Why do they detest that which and who they can’t understand?
Why do they despise those who and which are different?
His color may be darker than ours,
Her physical features may not be as ours,
And may be less or more than normal,
We may not understand his language,
Or she may not be able to verbally express herself,
And uses her fingers to communicate instead,
He may walk with crutches,
She may move through the aid of a wheel chair,
Why the air of rejection?
Why the reaction of distaste,
Why the attitude of despise, detest?
Why the mockery?
Why do we have to despise, reject and mock those who are and which are different?
Why do we fear those that we do not know and do not understand?
Them who are different,
Have you ever thought putting yourself in their shoes?
How would you feel knowing then, that as they see us different, they too despise, reject and mock us?
Would you be so happy knowing that someone has judged you before they even knew you,
simply because you are different?
And don’t you think we are as much different to them as they are to us?
